To commemorate World Tourism Day on September 27 - a global day highlighting and celebrating the important role tourism plays in preserving and promoting culture and heritage around all the world –  the editors of Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and Journal of China Tourism Research together with Routledge have launched a special article collection on "Tourism and Rural Development" which is also this year's theme.

The 2020 edition of World Tourism Day, with the theme of “Tourism and Rural Development”, will celebrate the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities outside of big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.
