About the Journal
Journal of Lesbian Studies is recruiting for a new editor to edit the journal for a three-year period starting January 1, 2022.
This is an interdisciplinary journal, established in 1996 to promote and disseminate high quality research that examines the cultural, historical, and interpersonal impact of the lesbian experience on society. The journal has four issues per year and is published by Taylor & Francis.
About the role
We are looking for a new editor with the passion to drive the journal forward in an exciting period of change. The editor should have extensive experience in writing, reviewing and editing academic texts. The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and decision-making on submissions. They will have the authority to accept articles following successful peer review and will ensure that guest editors, reviewers and authors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics. There will be an agreed handover period with the out-going editor to ensure a seamless transition. We are looking for the following skills and attributes:
• Someone who is active in the academic community with strong personal networks
• Confidence to engage with authors and researchers to solicit the highest quality submissions
• Strong organizational skills to ensure that submissions are handled in a timely manner
• The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues such as editorial board members and guest editors
This position may be available as a co-editorship – please note your interest in this in your application. The publisher pays an honorarium for editorial work.

The Journal of Lesbian Studies examines the cultural, historical, and interpersonal impact of the lesbian experience on society, keeping all readers – professional, academic, or general – informed and up-to-date on current findings, resources, and community concerns. The journal is interdisciplinary in scope and is essential reading for independent scholars, lay people, professors, and students.
