About the Role

Mitochondrial DNA, Part B: Resources is an open access journal publishing announcements of whole mitochondrial DNA genomes and rapid communications on mtDNA.

Mitochondrial DNA, Part B is inviting applications for Associate Editors. The role will be for a minimum of one year, renewable for further years subject to mutual agreement. Associate Editors are paid an honorarium.

Associate Editors will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing the peer review process for submissions via the ScholarOne peer review system.
  • Making final decisions on submissions as a subject expert, providing feedback to authors, and working with the Editor-in-Chief to prepare accepted submissions for publication.
  • Identifying strategies to enhance and maintain the quality and reputation of the journal
  • Providing suggestions for new Editorial Board members as necessary.

Mitochondrial DNA Part B: Resources is an open access journal publishing announcements of whole mitochondrial DNA genomes and rapid communications on mtDNA. Mitochondrial DNA Part B serves the scientific community by publishing the growing number of organelle genomes sequenced by researchers. The journal considers rapid communications on the following topics: Physical, chemical, and biochemical aspects of mtDNA and proteins involved in mtDNA metabolism, and/or interactions Population genetics, phylogenetics and human evolution that use mitochondrial DNA as a source of evidence for studies Human mitochondrial disorders and the utility of mitochondrial DNA information in medical studies Unique methodological or algorithmic approaches to the analysis of mtDNA data sets Communication papers describing new methods, software tools and databases All articles are made freely and permanently available online through  gold open access publication.
