Architectural Science Review

About the role

Architectural Science Review is a high-quality, original research journal covering all areas of architectural science including: building science and technology, environmental sustainability, structures and materials, audio and acoustics, illumination, thermal systems, building physics, building services, building climatology, building economics, ergonomics, history and theory of architectural science and the social sciences of architecture. We are looking for a new Editor-in-Chief with an academic background architectural science and the passion to drive the journal forward in an exciting period of change.

The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and decision making employing the Journal's online submission and peer review system, ScholarOne Manuscripts. The Editor-in-Chief will have authority to accept articles following successful peer review and will ensure that reviewers and authors adhere to the Journal's Code of Publishing Ethics. There will be an agreed handover period with the outgoing Editor-in-Chief to ensure seamless transition and we will provide the incoming Editor with peer review administration support.

Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover any journal-related expenses, full ScholarOne Manuscripts training and administrative support. Taylor & Francis will organise annual board meetings and supply reports reflecting on the performance of the Journal.

Your vision statement should be no longer than two pages and should cover:

  • Where the field is going and the journal's place within it
  • How you would work with the editorial board
  • How you would maintain and increase quality of submissions
  • How you would work with authors

We will be looking to conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates during February/March and the role will start in April 2021.



Founded at the University of Sydney in 1958 by Professor Henry Cowan to promote continued professional development, Architectural Science Review presents a balanced collection of papers on a wide range of topics. From its first issue over 50 years ago the journal documents the profession’s interest in environmental issues, covering topics such as thermal comfort, lighting, and sustainable architecture, contributing to this extensive field of knowledge by seeking papers from a broad geographical area.
