West European Politics

To mark its 50^th anniversary, West European Politics will publish a special double issue in October 2026 to debate the study of European politics, government, and public policy. Part of the special issue will be devoted to a critical assessment of how European politics, government, and public policy have been studied and offer a forum for critical debate about contemporary and future empirical, conceptual, theoretical, methodological, and normative challenges. The Editors are interested in paper proposals that challenge dominant perspectives and received wisdom; discuss blind spots and overlooked themes; and set out how the discipline should evolve.

Please send a draft abstract of approximately 400 words to the Editors by 15 June 2024 – [email protected] .  The Editors will inform you of their decision by  1 July 2024. Full drafts of your paper will need to be submitted by 1 March 2025 and will be subject to full review. Full drafts should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words in length.
