Value Chain Analysis and Evolution Aspects of Business Application in Smart Cities for Future Digital Era

The growth of digital transformation has resulted in the significant development of smart cities. Advanced communication and collaboration techniques have been implemented to streamline the way cities interact with citizens. With the advent of new technologies, it has become easier to analyze user data and connect it with sophisticated information systems to improve value chain analysis. Technological investments and urban development are helping to address a number of social issues more effectively. Business applications have evolved to enhance the efficiency of smart city operations. In today's rapidly changing world, traditional models are being replaced by digital platforms that focus on social growth and a better quality of life. Enterprise architecture is a growing concept that is being embraced by many business professionals as a means to design and align better approaches towards smart city infrastructure. The Internet of Things has played a crucial role in revitalizing digital growth in smart cities, addressing the limitations of data analysis. Today's focus is on building smart city models that are resilient during pandemics and capable of handling the upcoming industrial revolution. Sustainability and quality of life are key elements in achieving a successful value chain analysis and promoting economic growth. Reforms in policies and plans that rely on digital urban infrastructure and business investments will help transform smart cities into crisis-resistant communities. However, the digital divide still exists and can be addressed by providing access to faster internet connectivity, such as 6G broadband and data centers, smartphones, E-commerce awareness, neo-banking, and other digital platforms. An intelligent city can only run efficiently through a digital and eco-friendly ecosystem that is powered by promising AI solutions and mobility. However, there are still challenges to overcome, such as cybersecurity, data ownership, privacy, and interoperability. These can be addressed through improved and secure digital platforms with advanced algorithms and firewalls.

The value chain can be improved overall with the implementation of cutting-edge smart city deployment, driven by data and economically driven business models for the future. This requires global collaboration among stakeholders, business professionals, and leaders to improve smart city investments and create sustainable value chain growth for smart urban ecosystems. This special issue highlights the importance of digital business applications in developing smart cities for the future, with improved value chain analysis and modules. Researchers and professionals are encouraged to present innovative business models for the digital era of smart cities.
