Sustainable Energy Cycle: Production, Storage and Utilization
In view of the growing energy demands and the rapid depletion of fossil fuels, there are tremendous efforts to find alternative renewable and clean energy sources. In this context, the sustainable energy cycle, which includes energy production, storage, and utilization, has gained tremendous research interest within the scientific community worldwide. The recent focus is on developing sustainable, cost-effective, scalable, and economically viable technologies that can be commercialized to meet ever-increasing energy demands and reduce the dependence on traditionally utilized fossil fuels resulting in fewer carbon emissions and providing an environmentally benign solution for the future. The present conference will broadly focus on various aspects pertaining to sustainable energy cycle, including recent advances and breakthroughs in the energy sector, energy conservation techniques, and other emerging technologies of interest which have drawn vast interest of scientists and academicians in the recent decade. The special issue will thus pave way for attracting high quality and impact research articles in the aforementioned listed research domain.
This Special Issue aims to include following (but not limited to) topics of interest:
- Battery – challenges, perspectives, scope, and future of other potential batteries such as the Lithium-ion, sodium-ion, lead-sulphur battery, lithium-air, etc.
- Supercapacitors – emerging materials for enhanced energy storage and sustainable charge-discharge cycles.
- Fuel cell technology – polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell, direct methanol fuel cell, solid oxide fuel cell, electrolyzers, etc.
- Solar energy – photovoltaic systems, perovskite solar cells, organic solar cells, flexible and wearable devices, etc.
- Hydrogen energy – potential emerging storage materials such as metal alloys, metal-organic frameworks, green hydrogen production using renewable sources, etc.
- Clean coal technology – gasification, liquefaction, direct combustion, etc.
- Carbon capture and storage
- Carbon dioxide sequestration and conversion to value-added products (waste valorization)
- Gas hydrates
- Energy, fuels and valuable materials using plastic, solid waste and inorganic materials.
- Life cycle assessment of sustainable energy technologies
- Application of artificial intelligence in the sustainable energy cycle

Choose open accessSubmission Instructions
- Select special issue “Sustainable Energy Cycle: Production, Storage and Utilization” when submitting your paper to ScholarOne
- The special issue will feature both critical reviews and research papers. A review is expected to present a critical overview of the state-of-the-art of a topic, with critically selected examples, to point the reader to trends and likely future developments, and to give a selection of important references to the current literature. For a research paper, the paper length must be appropriate to the content. There is no strict page limit.
- The submission deadline for papers has been set as April 30, 2023.
