Strategic Management and Green Innovation within the Framework of Sustainable Solutions

Currently, business environments are highly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (Taskan et al., 2022) due to globalisation, the emergence of new technologies, the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing urgency of climate change. These turbulent and unpredictable environments are characterised by increased intensity of competition, disruptive changes in industry structure, volatility of demand and a need for economic model change, in addition to the instability of economic, social and political factors (Ozdemir and Mecikoglu, 2016; Lapersonne et al., 2015).

In this context, business organisations are forced to implement new types of competitive strategies with a more complex and dynamic approach that allows them to adapt to the new competition (Lapersonne et al., 2015).

Advancing sustainable management means that firms are not only focusing on environmental compliance (Aragón-Correa & Rubio-López, 2007, Bhupendra & Sangle, 2015, Phan & Baird, 2015), but also firms are proactive in their approaches (Broman & Robèrt, 2017; Wijethilake 2017) and looking for green innovations (Singh et al., 2020) to meet new challenges.

This special issue aims to contribute to our better understanding of how business strategies for green innovations focus on the search for sustainable business solutions, considering the importance of the current environment and sustainable development.
