Software Quality, Reliability, and Security (in collaboration with QRS 2021)

With software being increasingly ubiquitous in our everyday lives and playing an indispensable role in the function of our society, it has changed the way we live and conduct business. This is especially the case when considering the exponential demand and growth of software-enabled systems. The overwhelming consequences of their failures have made issues of ensuring their quality, as well as reliable and secure operations more important than ever.

Traditional techniques and tool support are insufficient to overcome the challenges posed by the complexity of these systems, the dynamic nature of the environments in which they operate, and the drive for continuous deployment of new functionality. This special issue especially welcomes papers that discuss new techniques to overcome the shortcomings of existing approaches.

While this special issue provides an opportunity for authors of top-quality papers accepted by QRS 2021 (The 21st IEEE International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability, and Security) to submit their extended articles, it also has an open call to the scientific community. Our objective is to present a collection of the current state-of-the-art research and the state-of-practice techniques within this scope described above.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Reliability, Security, Availability, and Safety of Software Systems
• Software Testing, Verification, and Validation
• Program Debugging and Comprehension
• Information and Software Quality Assurance
• Fault Tolerance for Software Reliability Improvement
• Modeling, Prediction, Simulation, and Evaluation
• Metrics, Measurements, and Analysis
• Secure and Reliable Storage
• Software Penetration and Protection
• Software Vulnerabilities
• Formal Methods
• Malware Detection and Analysis
• Intrusion Detection and Prevention
• Operating System Security and Reliability
• Mobile and Smartphone Applications
• Internet of Things and Cloud Computing
• Information and Knowledge Management
• Benchmark, Tools, Industrial Applications, and Empirical Studies
• Machine Learning and Deep Learning Models and Systems
