Environmental Issues in Scholarly Communication
We are currently seeking submissions for a Special Issue that highlights environmental issues and trends impacting collections, publishing, and other aspects of scholarly communication.
Climate change and environmental issues are widely discussed in disciplines such as STEM, sociology, urban planning, and political science. However, scholarly communication practices have significant environmental impact, as well. As publishers strategize on how to curb their carbon footprints, and libraries introduce new acquisition models and other programs to foster sustainability, this is a critical moment to reflect on how things like data storage and print publishing impact the environment, evaluate how libraries, publishers, and others are addressing sustainability, and consider what a more eco-conscious scholarly communication cycle might mean for the future.
