Responding to Change
Change is a constant, so the saying goes, and those involved with the teaching of English are very used to navigating a constantly changing educational environment. As we enter a new phase in history, we are keen to understand how such change might affect the teaching of English. Some teachers are facing rapid and violent change that challenges the very core of what it means to teach English; others are teaching in contexts which struggle with the decolonising, unsettling and diversifying of curriculum. We are all living in a time of climate change. These changes creep into our classrooms, challenge us as practitioners, enrich us as students and teachers.
We invite school-based practitioners and academics to submit papers for a special issue reflecting the diverse and changing landscape of literature about teaching English. Topics could include, but are not limited to:
- Changing the curriculum
- Changing pedagogical approaches to English
- Changing people
- Climate change
- Responding to change
- Resisting change
- Leveraging successful change
- AI and English
- Subject English for a changing population
- Preparing beginning teachers in a time of change
- Evolution or revolution?

Please select the correct special issue title as the Manuscript Type. To discuss a possible contribution, please email john.perry@nottingham.ac.uk or velda.elliott@education.ox.ac.uk.
