Approaches, insights and examples in reconstructing historical pollution records throughout the Holocene Era
The special issue will include manuscripts that cover methods, techniques and approaches used in identifying the timelines of chemical, material, or biological pollution from the past 12,000 years of the earth’s history to the present. The types of research that will be covered include the following examples.
- Earth cores (sediment, ice, deep sea, etc.) involving chronology
- Museum collections that include biological and geochemical specimens
- Tree rings and other plant chronology
- Human hair and other plant or animal tissues
- Biological minerals (e.g., fish otolighs)
- Human artifacts
