Public Transport and Mobility as a Service (MaaS)

In response to the dynamic and ever-evolving realm of transport science, this special issue aims to explore transformative trends in Public Transport, Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and shared mobility in this context

Building upon the journal's commitment to rigorous research methodology and empirical analysis, the issue seeks to unravel the complexities of integrating MaaS into the broader transportation landscape. The special issue focuses on innovative modeling approaches for MaaS systems, dynamics of urban mobility, sustainability considerations, integration with connected and automated systems, and user-centric design principles. By delving into these key areas, the issue aspires to contribute novel insights that advance our understanding of the future of urban mobility.

The subject areas of interest include but are not limited to:

  1. Urban Mobility Dynamics:
  • Understanding and modeling the dynamics of MaaS within the urban context.
  • Behavioral aspects and preferences of individuals and groups in the context of public transportation and MaaS adoption.
  1. Innovative Modeling Approaches for MaaS and shared mobility:
  • Advancements in network modeling for MaaS systems.
  • Simulation and optimization techniques tailored for the unique characteristics of MaaS.
  1. User-Centric Approaches to MaaS Design:
  • Examining user satisfaction and experience in MaaS platforms.
  • Design principles and methodologies for user-centric MaaS services.
  1. Fare and pricing strategies
  • Understanding and modelling fare and pricing strategies for public transportation and MaaS
  • Insights on how payment and subsidy can increase shared mobility in a MaaS context
  1. Sustainability in Public Transport and MaaS:
  • Evaluating and modeling the environmental and social sustainability of MaaS and public transport.
  • Strategies for enhancing sustainability in urban mobility.
  1. MaaS Integration in Connected and Automated Systems:
  • Exploring the synergy between MaaS, connected vehicles, and automated traffic systems.
  • Implications of MaaS in the era of connected and automated transportation.
