The Psychological Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to have a myriad of psychological effects across various populations. Consistent with the larger aims and scope of The Journal of General Psychology, both basic and applied research from a broad variety of research areas will be considered and clear preference will be given to manuscripts that appeal to a general audience of researchers in the psychological sciences. It is the expectation and goal of this Special Issue that it will accordingly reflect a wide diversity of innovative, meaningful, and noteworthy topics and themes related to the COVID-19 pandemic across the broad spectrum of psychology that are rooted and guided by sound and coherent theoretical and methodological underpinnings.

Also consistent with the larger aims and scope of the journal, articles that utilize experimental methodology involving the manipulation of independent variables that try to investigate the causes of behaviour and mental processes will be given clear preference. In addition, preference will be given to articles that propose new methodologies or applications of new methodologies to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. However, research that tests models and theories involving complex psychological phenomenon will also be welcomed. Papers exclusively featuring literature reviews or commentaries will not be considered. Prospective authors are strongly urged to closely adhere to the journal’s instructions and guidelines to authors.

Consistent with the general protocol of the journal, all submitted manuscripts will initially be appraised by the Guest Editor. If suitable for further consideration, additional peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees will be conducted. All peer review is double- blind, the identity of the reviewers and the authors are not disclosed to either party. Submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.
