Developing a National Strategy to Prevent and End Child Sexual Abuse
Arguably there is greater public awareness of child sexual abuse and a larger number of professionals devoted to research, advocacy, intervention and prevention than at any time in history. The popular media routinely cover incidents of the sexual abuse of children in the family and virtually every type of youth serving organization, and yet there is no large, organized movement to end and prevent child sexual abuse.
The Journal of Child Sexual Abuse (JCSA) announces a call for abstracts describing proposed papers on one of the following topics or related issues:
- What has worked and not worked in efforts to engage the public in efforts to prevent sexual abuse (public awareness, prevention programs, program evaluation, advocacy and policy efforts, etc.)?
- Why is there no national movement to prevent and end child sexual abuse? What is needed to accomplish this? How does the message need to be framed?
- What may be a worthwhile effort to gain larger support for the prevention of sexual abuse? What have been successful efforts at the grassroots or political levels to make changes in communities or at other levels?
Join the conversation! Submit your research and become a part of the solution to prevent and end child sexual abuse.
