Smart maritime logistics supported by advanced technologies
Digitalization and automation have been key driving forces which change various features of ports and shipping industries in recent years. Especially, successful developments and applications of new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, to various industries ignites researchers to find various interesting research issues of applying these new technologies to maritime logistics. Considering automation of ports and ships is a popular trend in the maritime industry, new technologies can be essential elements to explain recent changes and forecast future trends in automation of maritime logistics.
Various data became available due to the improved information technology (IT) infrastructure in the maritime industry.
