Linking Deep Earth and Surface Processes in Eurasia, Adjacent Seas and Elsewhere

Deep Earth processes due to plate tectonics and mantle plumes strongly affect surface processes such as mountain building, rifting, magmatism, mineralization, basin formation, volcanism, and seismicity, while also shaping landscapes and climate dynamics and thus life. Significant progress has been made in understanding individual processes through advances in data acquisition, theoretical frameworks, and computational methods. However, their interconnections remain poorly constrained, limiting our ability to understand the interactions of these dynamic systems.

This special issue invites manuscripts investigating relationships between deep Earth processes and surface environments as well as their coupling across a range of spatial and temporal scales, especially in Eurasia and adjacent seas. We welcome studies employing observational, experimental, and modelling approaches, as well as interdisciplinary methodologies that provide new insights into these interactions.
