Moralities and Drug Policy
There is increasing interest in the role that norms, values and morals play in influencing the development and implementation of policy on illicit drugs, at regional, national and international levels. This special issue will bring together cutting edge research on these issues from leading and emerging international scholars.
The editors of Drugs: Education, Prevention and Policy and the board of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy invite submissions of original research papers and reviews on the roles of morality in drug policy. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Theoretical work on the application of normative thinking to theories of drug use and drug policy (including prevention, treatment, law enforcement, and harm reduction).
- Methodological articles on the application of social scientific research methods to the study of moralities in drug policy.
- Empirical studies of the role of moralities in the development and implementation of drug policy, at whatever geographical level.
- Reviews of existing or emerging work in this field.
All work will be subject to independent peer review. The guest editors also plan to submit some of their own work – and a joint editorial – to this special issue. These contributions will also be subject to independent peer review.
