Israel at the Polls 2026
The journal ISRAEL AFFAIRS plans to publish a special volume that will deal with the Knesset elections scheduled to be held in November 2026. Its topics will cover a wide range of issues that the upcoming election campaign will address such as the judicial reform, the October 7 attack, and the multi-sectoral campaign against the Iranian axis. The volume will include studies from diverse fields of knowledge: political science, sociology, international relations, history, economics, law, geography, and more.
Desirable topics:
• The Iron Sword War and its expansion into the Israel-Iran War
• The Judicial reform and the relationship between the three branches of government
• Blocs, parties and political leaders
• New political actors (or comebacks)
• Election propaganda
• Economic status, ethnicity, and geographic location
• The Israeli-Palestinian conflict
• Demographic changes
• Public opinion polls
• Media and social networks
* We would of course also welcome suggestions on other topics related to the 2026 elections.
Submission Instructions
Proposals for articles of up to 300 words should be sent in a WORD file titled "Election 2026" to [email protected]
The special issue will be edited by Prof. Avi Bareli (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev), Dr. Ori Wertman (University of South Wales, UK), and Prof. Kobi Michael (University of South Wales, UK). It is expected to be published no later than the second half of 2027 (unless the elections are brought forward, in which case their advance will affect the schedule for submitting articles). The final articles will be received no later than four months after the election date and will undergo a double-blind peer review process as is customary in the journal. Articles must be submitted in accordance with the ISRAEL AFFAIRS journal's guidelines. There is a future intention to produce a book based on the special issue.
