This call for papers for the first special issue of Women’s Writing dedicated to Irish writers invites submissions on innovative topics from the medieval period to the late-nineteenth century. We particularly welcome intersectional approaches, considering gender alongside class, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, religion, and age.
Topics may include but are not limited to:
- Life Writing
- Cultural responses to medical and scientific developments
- Transnational and transcultural encounters
- Nature writing and ecology
- Publication histories
- Archipelagic perspectives
- Women writing women’s bodies
- Travel writing
- Collaborative projects and coterie writing
- Manuscript circulation
- Fable and folklore
- Considerations of empire, colonialism and enslavement
- Correspondence networks
- Literary and cultural retellings
