Human-Computer Interaction Innovations in China

China is currently the largest marketplace of computing technology in the world. Computer-based products are becoming an integral part of daily life for most Chinese. After 20 years, HCI is becoming a thriving field in China. The HCI community is growing, including professionals from the fields of engineering psychology, human factors, computer science, user experience /usability, behavioral sciences, industrial design, etc. Research and practice of HCI in China are also growing across academia and industry, many HCI labs and programs have been established across universities and industry, several national professional organizations actively organize HCI-related professional activities and annual conferences. HCI is currently becoming one of the flourishing career fields that people are pursuing.

We, therefore, call for papers addressing how the international and Chinese societies have been benefited from the HCI innovations in China. The goal is to collect original and high-quality papers focused on the innovative aspects related to the HCI field in China. We welcome a diversity of submissions from academia and industry.

The special issue is coordinated by the Technical Committee of Engineering Psychology, Chinese Psychological Society.

Topics and themes for the special issue include, but are not limited to:

Submission Instructions

All submissions will be peer-reviewed and judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance, quality of presentation, and relevance to the special issue topics of interest. Submitted papers may not be under consideration for another conference or journal, nor may they be under review or submitted to another forum during the review process. The submissions should be prepared according to the guidelines of IJHCI. All submissions should be done through the editorial manager of IJHCI:  https://www.editorialmanager.com/ijhc/default.aspx. When submitting, please select the article type “Special Issue Article”, and select the current special issue in the section “Additional Information”.

  • Deadline for submission: November 30, 2022
  • Completion of first-round reviews: January. 31, 2023
  • Revised manuscript submission: March 15, 2023
  • Notification of final decision: May 15, 2023
  • Final manuscript submission: June 30, 2023
