Tackling grand health challenges: together for impact

Do you have an inspiring health marketing or health behaviour change project to share?

This special issue is aligned to the 7th World Social Marketing Conference held in September 2022. The call for papers is open to those who had papers accepted for the conference in the health domain and is extended to other relevant health research papers in line with the call for papers.

Are you trying to change health behaviours for the better and using marketing or communication as a part of that? Does your best practice case study, or  completed and/or on-going health behaviour project research have important implications for health marketing? If yes, then we encourage you to submit a paper to this special issue. Help inspire others, share knowledge and drive forward best practice in health and social marketing by sharing your work in Health Marketing Quarterly.

We are seeking contributions which include analysis of existing best practice, methods and programs; application of new ideas and methods; and research on various aspects of health marketing. Conceptual papers including critiques, reflections and conceptualizations aiming to expand thinking in the field are welcomed. Systematic reviews on aspects of health marketing which follow PRISMA reporting guidelines are also welcomed. Each manuscript should include the marketing implications of the impact of the findings or conceptualisation on health marketing practice.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting global and local health and reducing the impact of disease through behavioural influence
  • Tackling and combating health mis and disinformation
  • Using citizen focused design thinking, participative design, actor engagement and co-creation for health
  • COVID-19, lessons learned and challenges ahead
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Promoting equality and reducing inequality in health
  • Digital and technological impact on health behaviour. New platforms and techniques, programme implementation and government policy
  • Interdisciplinary and cross sector action to influence health behaviour for social good
  • Advancing theory, research in health marketing and health behavioural influence
  • Using systems thinking to solve complex societal problems and influence health policy
  • Critical Social Marketing in health behaviour change
