Groups Addressing Human Suffering: Offering Spirituality, Hope, Social Justice, Forgiveness, and Meaning in Life

DURING COVID-19, people have suffered tremendous loss, pain, and fear. Political division, systemic racism and oppression, increased violence and hate crimes, health inequities, and economic stress and hardship have left many needing hope and connection. The current special edition will focus on how group therapy (both online and face-to-face) can provide compassion, spiritual growth, faith, and meaning in life. We are asking for papers that address specific theories, group interventions, and clinical analyses that will emphasize the importance of group therapy during this time in history.
We ask that you follow a specific format for these papers that includes:
1) a description of issue being addressed and the theory of group,
2) summary of empirical support for the issue and approach (even if limited),
3) a clinical example/vignette of the group, and
4) discussion that includes (limitations for different populations/cultures/identities, future applications, future research that is needed).
