Green Processes for Advanced Ceramics
Recently, a concept of reducing resource and environmental burden, carbon-neutral, and circular economy becomes increasingly significant in the field of materials science and technology, especially, in materials processing. For ceramic materials, which have been conventionally fabricated at high temperatures, an innovative, environmentally friendly processing has been demanded. This Journal of Asian Ceramic Societies Special Issue will focus on recent research about ceramics processing that can contribute to the sustainable and eco-friendly society. Topics will include green process for ceramic materials such as low-temperature processes under non-thermal equilibrium conditions, cold sintering, mechanochemical and biochemical reaction for the development, recycling, and reuse of functional materials like rechargeable batteries, catalysts, composite materials, engineering ceramics.
Manuscripts are solicited in the following areas:
- Methods that achieve new functions while considering resource procurement and reducing environmental impact.
- Lower process temperatures through non-thermal equilibrium processes.
- Express rare element replacement functions via microstructure and interface control.
- Implement self-repair functions.
- Analysis and characterization technologies for interfaces and grain boundaries to achieve the above technology.
- New coating technologies like aerosol deposition and nanosheet methods, which are gaining attention as room-temperature ceramic processes.
- New bulk processes, including cold sintering methods and mechanochemical and biochemical reaction processes.
Submission Instructions
- The manuscript should be at least four printed pages in length.
- There is no restriction on the type of paper.
- When submitting your manuscript, please select "Green Processes for Advanced Ceramics" as the article type.
- Submission deadline: 30 January 2026
- Special Issue publication (tentative): the end of August 2026
