GNSS real-time precise point positioning: algorithms, applications, and challenges
The availability of open-access and high-quality GNSS real-time Precise Point Positioning (PPP) corrections has offered an enormous opportunity for several high-precision applications in which the instantaneous determination of Positioning, Navigation, Timing and Atmospheric (PNTA) parameters is of crucial importance. This entails careful modelling and dissemination of the PPP corrections in their state-space representation (SRR) forms.
This special issue aims to expose new algorithmic developments, real-world applications, complementary methods, and current challenges concerning PPP services. Examples of topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Comparative studies on RTK, PPP, PPP-AR and PPP-RTK with a single- to multi-frequency (constellation) measurement setup;
- Characteristics, temporal-behavior, latency and dissemination of Observable-Specific Biases (OSBs);
- Atmospheric (ionospheric and tropospheric) corrections and their spatiotemporal models;
- Multi-sensor integration aiding PPP convergence-times and single-receiver integer ambiguity resolution;
- Quality control and integrity monitoring of the GNSS observations; and
- Role of PPP and its alternative methods, such as INSAR, in geosciences and Earth deformation monitoring
