Global Education for Sustainable Building Environment: Design, Construction and Maintenance

Envisioned from the experience of real buildings, it is important to address the educational implications of building design processes and consider international environmental impacts, economic feasibility and societal acceptability. Finding trends, the current state of the building, policy issues and global agreements related to sustainable building environment is crucially important. It helps in the development of management strategies for the design, construction and maintenance of sustainable buildings. The prime emphasizes recognizing the necessity for education in each aspect of a sustainable building environment. Also, it helps to find the ways to develop nations with sustainable buildings by managing their learning environments, offering an overview of work on design, construction and maintenance of buildings. Further, there is an increasing number of green building initiatives around the globe. Education is becoming increasingly important to help train the workers who are needed at every stage in sustainable construction. The sustainable architecture incorporates design concepts that allow a structure to function as a closed system, recycling energy and protecting the occupants from adverse effects of climate change. The architectural concept that results from this approach is district heating/cooling, which is at its most effective in urban clusters.

The special issue explores various methods of achieving a sustainable environment with particular reference to new construction and modifications for existing buildings. It covers broad research for the development, planning and implementation of a building within an overall scheme of sustainable development.
