Applications of Microorganisms in Advanced Geomicrobiological and Biotechnological Exploration
Microorganisms play critical roles in all natural environments. They can be used effectively for resurrecting these environments by acting as agents for multiple remediation purposes. Indeed, microorganisms have been invaluable in finding solutions for several problems mankind has encountered from maintaining the quality of the environment to the development of life saving drugs. Integrating biological approaches for environmental sustainability and economic development is one of the primary demands of modern society. This special issue will elucidate the growing applications of microorganism in diverse areas of geological and biological sciences and examine the connections between the emerging environmental, economic, and ecological aspects of these sciences important for human society.
The Editors welcome the submission of original research papers and review papers by researchers from all disciplines investigating relevant topics, including, but not limited to:
- Applications of microorganisms in geobiological and environmental remediation technologies.
- Geobiological remediation technologies for waste disposal and energy generation
- Applications of microorganisms as alternative sources of biofuel production
- Applications of microorganisms in relevant biotechnological industries
- Application of microorganisms in emerging waste management strategies
- Microbial technology for marine bio-prospecting and marine pollution abatement
- Microbial community analysis through multi OMICS approaches
- Development of genomics and bioinformatics tools for microbiome engineering
- The application of microbial biotechnology to achieve sustainable development goals
- Recent developments and future prospects for microbial bioremediation process
