Positioning, Remote Sensing and Data Analysis Tools in Geomatics Applications
Geomatics tools have been successfully used in a number of applications over the last couple of decades, which has led to the development of new or improved strategies for, for instance, monitoring the health of structures and infrastructures, determining natural hazard risk over large areas, and security in high-risk areas.
This special issues aims to collect papers on several subjects related to such geomatics tools, including the acquisition, processing, modelling and analysis of geospatial data, a range of positioning techniques (e.g. GPS/GNSS or innovative emerging solutions for GNSS in challenging working conditions), and mapping sensors and methods (e.g. with LiDAR or photogrammetry).
The topics covered by this special issue include several geomatics applications, such as building, infrastructure and environmental monitoring and documentation, and the analysis on the use of the involved sensors and techniques, such as positioning and mapping tools and sensors. Particular attention is also given to systems that are usable under extreme working conditions, for instance providing quick outcomes, which can be useful for risk management and to support decision makers during emergencies, or integrating different techniques for improving outcomes.
Subjects of interest for this special list include:
- Positioning, navigation, mapping systems and devices
- Sensors and acquisition techniques for quick geospatial data collection
- UAV/UAS and drones
- Remote sensing, spaceborne sensors and data processing
- Infrastructure and environment monitoring
- Disaster Monitoring and Management
- Geospatial information acquisition and processing
This special issue is organized in memory of Professor Raffaele Santamaria.
Papers that mainly focus on geographic and geological aspects are out of the scope of this special issue.
