Future Trends in Geo-spatial Information Science: The role of Location Intelligence
In 2017, the journal GEO-SPATIAL INFORMATION SCIENCE (GSIS) produced a Special Issue on the subject of “Perspectives on the nature of Geo-Spatial Information”. (Volume 20, Issue 2, see: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/tgsi20/20/2?nav=tocList), which contained papers on a range of perspectives, such as policy issues, standards, scientific aspects, commercial, industry and educational perspectives, as well as several key application areas. With over 85,000 full-text downloads and hundreds of citations, it is time to produce a new issue, to showcase the rapid advances that have been made in geo-spatial science and technology within the past few years, as geo-spatial information has established itself as a critical technology in many aspects of our lives.
Therefore, this this special issue will present the latest research trends, depicting the fusion of technologies such as:
- remote sensing
- GIS
- robotics
- the cloud
- artificial intelligence
- data science
- big data, and many other new technologies
This extensive range of technologies demonstrates that the aspect of location has become increasingly important. “Location Intelligence” is becoming a whole new field of research, especially for business.
With this in mind, we are looking for innovative research and application papers which will present these new trends and applications of geospatial information and the role of location to the Geo-spatial community.
