The Future of Corporate Reporting

Accounting in Europe aimed at stimulating the debate about the status quo and future directions of corporate reporting. We therefore invite papers dealing with the broad area of narrative reports, both financial and nonfinancial (e.g. IFRS management commentary, management reporting, nonfinancial reporting, reporting on climate change, integrated reporting). The submitted papers may address one of the following themes (list is not exhaustive):

  • Conceptualization and future directions of “wider corporate reporting”
  • The role of academics in institutionalizing nonfinancial reporting
  • The future of IFRS management commentary
  • The impact of Directive 2014/95/EU on nonfinancial reporting
  • Challenges in the regulation of climate change disclosure
  • National vs. international standards on nonfinancial reporting
  • The institutionalization of integrated reporting
  • Cross-national differences in management reporting in Europe and globally
  • Critical disclosures in management reports, e.g. forecast disclosures, risk disclosures
  • Current developments in management reporting of private firms
  • Assurance for management reports and other narrative reports
  • Digitalisation and management reports
