Environmental Technology research in support of the UN SDGs and the European Commission’s Horizon Missions
Environmental Technology is actively seeking papers to contribute to the global policy priorities represented by the European Commission’s Horizon Missions and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for a Special Issue of the journal to be published in 2022.
Environmental Technology research can advance individual technology developments, mitigation measures, resilient infrastructure, and sustainable consumption and production systems that help to deliver on the targets of the SDGs. These targets include providing clean water and sanitation for all, effective waste management, affordable and clean energy, and good health and well-being. There is also shared focus between this journal’s research community and the aims of the Horizon mission on healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters, particularly the mitigation of pollution and transition to a circular and blue economy. This Special Issue will boost the key role that our research community can play in supporting the SDGs and Horizon Missions.
Topics of papers might include but are not limited to:
- Innovate water and wastewater treatment processes for low- and middle- income countries
- Circular economy approaches to waste management
- Technology for environmental remediation
- Advances in clean energy
- Application of data and information technology
- Sustainable environmental technology
- New sensors and monitoring methods
This special issue will participate in a cross-discipline collection, with contributions from across the Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences, in support of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 missions. The collection will be published to be timed with Earth Day 2022 (22 April 2022) as part of a joint effort to support real-world research that addresses the SDGs and policy priorities facing our global society.
