Endocrine, Immune and Metabolic Functions of Vitamin D: Implications for Diagnostics and Therapy
Vitamin D has long been recognized for its role in calcium homeostasis and skeletal health, but in recent years, it has emerged as a central player in a wide array of physiological systems. This special issue invites cutting-edge research and reviews that explore the diverse and complex roles of vitamin D — from molecular and cellular mechanisms to clinical applications and public health strategies.
We welcome contributions that span the full spectrum of vitamin D science, including but not limited to:
-
Novel insights into vitamin D metabolism, receptor biology, and signaling pathways
-
The role of vitamin D in immune regulation, cancer biology, cardiometabolic health, and neuroendocrinology
-
Biomarkers of vitamin D status and their integration into diagnostic and prognostic models
-
The impact of vitamin D deficiency and supplementation across different populations and life stages
-
Laboratory innovations in vitamin D measurement, bioavailability, and genetic variability
-
Clinical trials assessing vitamin D as a preventive or therapeutic agent in chronic disease
-
Global and population-level perspectives on vitamin D policy, fortification, and accessibility
