Emerging Trends in Quantum Computing for Secure Information Communication

The digital world has made communication an essential part of human life. The communication through various platform like email, social media etc., involves large transfer of personnel data. These sensitive data are encrypted and passed through communication channels with digital keys that decode the information. Currently, Quantum computing is revolutionizing the world of computing. Since, it is based on quantum principles such as entanglement and superposition that enable Quantum particles to occur in multiple states simultaneously. It is more powerful in solving the complex unsolvable problems by typical computer. It deciphers the algorithm behind encryption keys that protect the data of internet infrastructure. So, Quantum computers are creating opportunities to improve cyber security by detecting cyber-attacks before they cause any harm to the communication network.

Quantum computing is transforming the way of data transfer by using Quantum key distribution (QKD) that disclose the exchange of secret information and alerts the eavesdropper's presence. Quantum key distribution also ensure secure information transfer while sharing cryptographic keys between many parties. Quantum computer also creates a virtually unbreakable encryption that allows hack-proof data transformation. The public key encryption algorithms in quantum computing secure networks from cyber-attacks. Quantum cryptographic algorithms in IoT protects it from security attacks like side-channel attacks, virus and data authentication, data breaches. Further, quantum-based database query in cloud computing helps to reduce communication complexities and preserve privacy. Here the databases are first encrypted for protecting server and client's privacy. Also, Machine learning techniques combined with artificial neural networks in quantum communication, quantum sensing, quantum cryptography can help to correct distorted information in the battlefield. Quantum photons altered with artificial neurons enhances the channel capacity of optical communication protocols in quantum computing. Hence quantum computing is seen an emerging technology for protecting the confidentiality and integrity of vital information.

Moreover, Quantum decoherence is a process that causes the system to crash due to heat, electromagnetic field and collision with air molecules. Indeed, quantum computers are expensive to build and operate at low temperatures. Also, they occupy more space and requires a cold atmosphere. However, quantum computing technologies has resolved most of the key encryption problems arising while data transfer. This special issue enables researchers and academicians working in against this background to submit their novel and innovative contributions that fall within the scope of quantum computing and develop quantum specific algorithms to bring about secure information transfer in a network.
