The Global Supply Chain under a Changing International Order
Since the 1980s, with the reduction of trade costs and the improvement of information and communication technologies, the international condition has changed rapidly, accelerating the restructuring of the global supply chain (GSC). Existing studies have focused on the value distribution and supplier relationship management along the GSC, as well as the impact of the GSC on economic growth. These works have enhanced our understanding of the GSC, including its formation, evolution, management and influence. Under severe strain due to trade frictions between the US and China and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, GSCs are showing new characteristics and facing new opportunities and challenges. A better understanding of the GSC under a changing international order is elusive but needed. To join this effort, Economic and Political Studies invites contributions to a new Special Issue on “The Global Supply Chain under a Changing International Order”. Preferred papers can contain theoretical and/or empirical analyses of the GSC. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- The break and reconstruction of the global supply chain
- Global supply chains and international networks
- Technology innovation and inventionthrough globalization
- The digital economy and the global supply chain
- Issues related with the global value chain
- The green supply chainand ecological governance
