Early Intervention in Eating Disorders
Early intervention in eating disorders is the timely provision of appropriate care for individuals and families contending with the illness. Within this overarching definition, early intervention may be understood and delivered in diverse ways across countries, health care systems, and levels of care. The intention of this special issue is to explore various conceptualizations and applications of early intervention in eating disorders.
We are seeking articles that advance our understanding of early intervention in the treatment of eating disorders. Empirical studies related to all areas of research are welcome. Review studies will be warmly welcomed. Theoretical papers also may be included, such as how early intervention may be conceptualized and/or operationalized in research and practice. In addition, we will encourage articles with an emphasis on equity and diversity, such as those examining early intervention from the perspective of groups who may experience systemic barriers when attempting to access care, or how early intervention might be conceptualized and delivered outside of the “Western” healthcare system.
