Recent developments on dynamics of substances in the rhizosphere (Rhizosphere 2022)
It is my pleasure to inform you that the Editorial Board of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition has approved our proposal to publish a Special Section “Recent developments on dynamics of substances in the rhizosphere” on the Vol. 68 (2), in April 2022. You are kindly invited to submit research articles and reviews to the Special Section.
Soil Science and Plant Nutrition is the official English language journal of the Japanese Society of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (JSSSPN), and publishes original research findings and reviews on soil science, plant nutrition and related subjects. The rhizosphere is the interface between plants and soils and involves in the nutrition dynamics and plant-microbial interactions. Related field has significantly progressed in current decade by recent analytical developments such as omics, surface analysis, and single cell analysis. Linkage among related fields is reminded especially in the researchers of soil science and plant nutrition. The special section Recent developments on dynamics of substances in the rhizosphere” is aimed to disseminate recent progresses in the field of the rhizosphere research. Examples of expected topics for the special section are; mobilization of nutrition by root exudates, plant functions under environmental stresses, plant responses on excessive or insufficient minerals, plant-microbial interactions, substance dynamics in the rhizosphere, and new insights on nutrient dynamics and interactions between plants and soils.
This special issue is part of a cross-disciplinary collection in support of the European Commission’s Horizon Missions, with contributions from across the Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences. These missions collectively represent important research and policy priorities facing our global society. The collection will be published to be timed with Earth Day 2022 (22 April 2022) as part of a collaborative effort to support real-world research that addresses the SDGs and global policy priorities.

2) Manuscript preparation: please follow the instructions for authors below.
3) Manuscript submission: The manuscripts are recommended to submit before July 31, 2021 in order to meet the publication schedule, through online at the Soil Science and Plant Nutrition ScholarOne Manuscripts site. At the Submission Step 1 on the web site, please choose “Special submission for Rhizosphere 2022” as “Type” of the manuscript;
4) Publication and peer-review process: All manuscripts are reviewed by the Editorial Board and qualified reviewers, in the same way as other submissions to the journal.
