Call for Package Proposals for Special Issues
Journal for Peace and Nuclear Disarmament (J-PAND) regularly solicits package proposals for special issues. The following are instructions for those who would like to serve as our guest editor with a package proposal.
1. Please submit a proposal for a J-PAND special issue that fits our Aims & Scope. The proposal should include the overall theme of the special issue, the topic of each paper, the list of potential authors and a brief bio of the guest editors. Authors’ agreement to contribute a paper to J-PAND is not required at this stage.
2. The number of papers in a single special issue should be between five and ten. More than half of them should be peer-reviewed papers. Other types of articles could be commentaries (non-refereed), conference papers and book reviews.
3. The deadline for making proposals should be at least one year before the publication of the special issue. We normally publish twice a year, in June and December. For example, if you want to publish with us in the second issue of 2025 (December 2025), please submit your proposal to us by the end of 2024.
4. The guest editor’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- creating a list of potential authors and reaching out to them,
- writing a draft of the Call for Papers (if necessary),
- providing comments on the draft of papers,
- suggesting potential expert reviewers, and
- writing an introductory article for the special issue (mandatory).
5. J-PAND will not allow our guest editors to operate our online submission and peer-reviewing system (Editorial Manager) with the role of editor. All the operations will be performed by the regular J-PAND editors.
6. All final decisions, including the list of authors, the appointment of anonymous reviewers, and the final disposition of the papers, will be made solely by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the guest editors. Guest editors may consult with the Managing Editor in case of any problems.
7. J-PAND does not require authors to pay Article Publishing Charge (APC). J-PAND does not pay any honorarium to our guest editors.
