Bridging Urban Climate Adaptation and Mitigation
The International Journal of Urban Sciences (IJUS) is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue on "Bridging Urban Climate Adaptation and Mitigation”.
This special issue dedicated to advancing our understanding of local climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, with a focus on actionable science and effective policy development highlighting the challenges that stakeholders (government bodies, community, companies, exert groups, citizens and so forth) face in leveraging data and knowledge for planning and implementation. We invite contributions that employ a co-creation approach to integrate scientific insights with practical applications, ultimately fostering robust mitigation and adaptation planning and policy development.
We invite authors to submit original research papers, review articles, and case studies related to, but not limited to, the following subject areas:
Focus Areas
Our special issue will explore both the scientific needs and practical solutions associated with urban climate adaptation and greenhouse gas reduction. We encourage submissions that address the following key topics:
- Case Studies on Co-Creation and Community/Stakeholder Engagement: Showcase examples of integrating community and stakeholder input and scientific research to enhance urban resilience, and climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.
- Innovative Solutions for Policy Barriers: Present new strategies and solutions for overcoming policy challenges and enhancing and linking capacity for mitigation and adaptation at local and regional levels.
- Integration of Indigenous Knowledge and Citizen Sciences: Explore methods for incorporating indigenous knowledge and citizen science into mitigation, climate risk assessments and developing climate services that cater to diverse user needs.
- Methodologies and Tools for Effective Planning and Implementation: Discuss approaches and tools that advance environmental justice and actionable science through multidisciplinary collaboration across sectors and scales.
