Energy
Armed conflict in Europe, a ‘teal wave’ driven by concern about climate change in the 2022 elections, gas and electricity shortages on the east coast, and a market failure leading to the suspension of the National Electricity Market. A series of seemingly disconnected events revolving around, and leading to, a “perfect storm” in the Australian energy sector. Such “perfect storms” highlight the need for multidisciplinary thinking in the design of complex systems and in delivering greater resilience to such perturbations from energy systems globally. In this vein, the Australian Journal of Multi-disciplinary Engineering is seeking contributions to a Special Issue focussing on Energy. Submissions examining technical, policy and social aspects of the energy sector would be greatly welcomed. In particular, we seek papers in the following areas amongst others:
- Renewables and new pathways to store energy
- The social impacts of renewable energies
- The role of diversification in energy supply resilience
- Resilient energy supply chain management
- Policies and policy-making for resilient energy supplies
