Artificial Intelligence (AI) is here to stay. Scholars argue that AI is effective and efficient, allowing increased productivity. However, some argue that is blurring lines between levels of individual human intelligence. The business world, academy, and other arena of production grapple with ways to adjust to AI. Notably, we focus on AI's impact on various aspects of human communication. The Howard Journal of Communications is a "quarterly journal that publishes original and current research papers focusing on ethnicity and culture as they interact with communication." The journal invites work that focus on the intersection of AI with human communication, within the journal's focal areas. These areas include "gender, ethnic representations in the media, interracial issues, and cultural resistance." Bearing in mind the journal's focus, we call for scholarly papers on AI that target the following as each impacts human communication:
Race issues
Gender concerns
Ethnicism
Culture and its representations
Educational impact and scholarship
Social issues
Media
Other related matters
Prospective contributors should read the journal's focus and its requirements. Quantitative, qualitative, and critical perspectives are welcome. Note that initial submission should be an extended abstract of no more than 500 words specifying unique contribution of the proposed paper, method, and findings/conclusion. Include the following "Special Issue on AI" in parenthesis, at the end of your abstract's heading.
