Artificial Intelligence in Human-Computer Interaction for Cross-Cultural Design and Development of Business Applications

Digitalization has a penetrative effect in integrating computational intelligence in the business sector. With the Revolution of connected devices, the internet of things (IoT), smart sensors open unlimited ways to communicate with computers and greatly leverage business applications. However, precise delivery of business information surpassing the cross-cultural difference is still elusive. Expanding the horizons of human-computer interaction through artificial intelligence (AI), explore all possible ways in precise sharing of information between humans and computers, which assures heightened situational awareness for the computer to make more reliable business decisions. Connected devices empowered with computer vision recognize human gestures, mine emotions associated with the products which surpass linguistic and cultural barriers and promote brand positioning ever than before. AI-empowered business solutions harness the efficiency of image processing induced advertising strategies by integrating demographic and social behavior of various geographic populations more precisely. The adoption of Natural language processing (NLP) brings revolutionary transformation in business by breaking cross-cultural and psychological barriers. Chatbots empowered with NLP can communicate with a user more precisely (despite being multilingual) and be more effective in managing business transactions in a digital environment. Virtual assistants harnessing the power of NLP are remarkable for establishing genuine relationships with customers and aid in retaining the customer. Automated NLP enriched linguistic augmentation builds linguistic resources more appropriate for business communication on the integration of social network analytics. Artificial intelligence is remarkable in leveraging the contact of humans with computers and reveals numerous businesses lead with would model business applications.

Communication through artificial intelligence would be a paradigm shift and requires better interaction strategies for business applications. Bolstering human-computer interaction would result in the production of human-centered business applications, which would blur cross-cultural and geographic barriers. However, potential challenges in integrating AI in reducing the communication gap need to be evaluated for global adoption and recommendation. The field of emotion recognition through hand gestures and facial recognition is still in its infancy and needs more research initiatives. Social network empowered sentiment analysis and opinion mining are highly limited by the limited availability of training resources that need improvement. The applicability of NLP in leveraging human-computer interaction in business transactions is limited due to linguistic ambiguities. Even the performance of Knowledge-based human activity recognition systems (KBAR) in product promotions and business negotiations becomes unreliable due to the complexity associated with human decision making, which needs more research front. On substantial improvement, certainly intelligent human-computer interactions aid in better situation awareness and make time-critical decision making in many complex business applications.

Therefore this special issue aims to discuss and highlight various topics like chatbots, NLP, business communication, brand positioning, geographical marketing, speech recognition, text mining, opinion analysis, smart business, product optimization, advertisement customization, and so on. We invite researchers from various fields to present their research work, reviews, and perspectives in Artificial Intelligence in Human-Computer Interaction for Cross-Cultural Design and Development of Business Applications.
