Application of systems engineering approach in resilience and sustainability management of System of System (SoS) Environment

Aim of the Special Issue:

Sustainability and resilience are emerging requirements in today's System of System (SoS) environment. While the two ideas share a close relationship, they are distinct concepts. In the modern world, organizational stakeholders are giving greater attention to both of these attributes (i.e., Sustainability and resilience) due to increasing attention from government, consumers, and other concerned groups.

When applied to any domain, the goal of sustainability is to minimize the environmental impact while maximizing the profitability and social well-being of the stakeholders. Along with the fulfillment of sustainability criteria, an organization should also be able to react with agility to disruptive events that could occur at any time. The term used to describe this capability, "resilience," is considered to be one of the most important factors for a business environment.

In order to maintain adherence to international and local environmental legislation, a good assessment of an organization's current scenario is pivotal. The issue with adopting the combined sustainable and resilient practices or initiatives, however, is that implementing such initiatives is not always favorable for all organizations. The introduction of such combined practices sometimes has to face some severe barriers that might cripple the organization's financial structure. Hence, there is a need for assessing the condition of the organization so that it can be clearly ascertained if the business can really successfully launch such a combined initiative and withstand it. Thus, it is necessary to move beyond considerations based on the traditional approach and toward a more 'systemic' paradigm. This shift can facilitate a deeper appreciation of and alternative courses of action to avoid the barrier to implement sustainable and resilient combined practices.

The objective of this special issue is to adopt the application of systems engineering approach in resilience and sustainability management in any system of system(SoS) environment.  the sustainability and resilience of the green supply chain network.
