Suggested maximum length is 10 pages. Formatting is free initially. We recommend following this structure:
- Title page to include title, authors and affiliations, email for corresponding author.
- Key words and three highlights.
- Abstract of 200-350 words summarising the work.
- Introduction to provide the background to the paper. This might include putting the work into context (e.g. education, the role of algae in art, developing new materials, engineering etc), any theory-building/ relationship-building/ reflection of different approaches to the medium (scientific approach to phycology vs arts approach) and should include the aims which can be discursive.
- Methods to cover the relevant aspects, e.g. the art part and the science part. A word of caution here to be very careful if planning on patenting a technology.
- Main results. Subheadings can be used and would include (or be linked to data) tables, figures, images, videos etc, depending on whether and what will be covered here.
- Discussion of findings in a broader context, e.g. working together/ knowledge generation/ storytelling/ other outcomes etc. Conclusions can also be included in this section and might be on impact, communication, product design, ideas generation, where next, etc.
