Advancing the Science of Teaching Reading
Catherine Snow (Harvard University) and Young-Suk Kim (University of California Irvine) are co-editing a special issue on the topic of “Advancing the Science of Teaching Reading” for the journal, Scientific Studies of Reading. The science of teaching reading is broadly defined, and we encourage submissions that address advancing conceptualizations of the science of teaching reading, empirical studies on teacher knowledge and instructional practices and their relations to student literacy outcomes, studies that investigate instructional strategies that are feasible, usable, and effective in education settings, and studies that investigate successful ways of communicating with the community of practitioners about teaching reading and supporting teachers. We welcome studies from different linguistic and geographic contexts. The target publication date is 2024 or early 2025.
