Special Issue entitled “Advanced Sustainable Development on Biomass Conversion Technologies and Biorefineries” in Environmental Technology Journal


Biomass is produced from living or dead organisms and includes plants and animals. The various methods applied in biomass conversion technologies and processing with various parameters to convert the biomass into alternative energy sources such as biodiesel, bio-ethanol, liquefaction bio-oil and solid (charcoal, biochar, and RDF, etc.). Moreover, the gaseous products are biogas, syngas, and biohydrogen from biomass energy. Due to the advantages of biomass energy for a sustainable environment, biomass conversion plays a crucial role in renewable energy development and the surrogate of valuable chemicals from potential function biomass. Moreover, recently most researchers have used biomass materials in the field of the catalytic material. Thus, negative emissions are produced in the environment. Biorefineries are the most promising route for the sustainable exploitation of lignocellulosic biomass sources into a wide range of fuels and materials. Refining biomass into value-added products has been an industrial activity for centuries all around the world. The special issue will concentrate on the fundamentals and applications of biomass conversion and biorefinery concerning recent advances in resource characteristics, advanced conversion processes, reaction properties, and utilization systems are also welcomed.
