About the Journal

Tourism Planning and Development (TPD) aims to explore and advance our theoretical and practical understandings of the intersections between tourism, planning and development studies. Each of these fields of study is characterised by rich scholarly and interdisciplinary traditions.

About the Role:

Editor Responsibilities: Major duties and responsibilities include:

Provide a clear vision for the direction of Tourism Planning & Development that aligns with the mission of the journal.

Manage the peer review process of submitted manuscripts throughout the year.

Solicit high-quality manuscripts from potential authors Work with Taylor & Francis Editorial and Production Staff to oversee the strategic and operational direction, performance, and production of the journal

Facilitate regular Editorial Board Meetings

Maintain and update administrative documents (e.g., position descriptions, guidelines)

Promote circulation and online usage within your network and please recommend the Journal to your institution or librarian if they do not subscribe already. Subscriptions contribute towards the Journal’s success and increased circulation means increased usage and citations.

Provide feedback and strategic suggestion to the Editor during journal board meetings or throughout the year; Editorial Board members are essential to creating a journal development plan and we look to you to provide feedback and strategic suggestions for consideration.

Champion Open Access: Open Research is an important part of academic publishing and will increase usage, citations, and visibility of the content. Please consider asking your networks to submit their work as open access to PST or considering doing so yourself.

Work collaboratively with other Co-Editors by providing feedback and strategic suggestion during journal board meetings and/or throughout the year. Editorial Board members are essential to creating a journal development plan and we look to all Editors to provide innovative and strategic recommendations for consideration and possible implementation. 

Champion Open Access: Open Research is an important part of academic publishing and will increase usage, citations, and visibility of the content.  To achieve this, Editors should encourage the submission of work as open access to PST and/or champion this with own publications.
