About the Journal
RME is the official journal of BSRLM and is a highly-respected international English language journal in the field. It publishes peer-reviewed research papers of studies involving empirical investigation and theoretical argument from which conclusions and implications can be drawn for future research and/or practice. In addition, it publishes book reviews and abstracts of the BSRLM day conferences with the support of the Book Reviews Editor and the Publications Secretary of BSRLM.
About the Role:
We are seeking a team of experienced editors with complementary expertise, representing diverse backgrounds and theoretical perspectives. In keeping with the spirit of the BSRLM, which fosters research through an inclusive and supportive community, the ethos of the RME editorial team is to provide constructive support for authors in order to produce high quality publications.
The editors are supported by a part-time editorial assistant. The journal draws on an Editorial Board of around 25 distinguished international researchers who participate in the reviewing process and contribute to the general promotion and development of the journal. In addition, there are a number of advisory editors who can provide support to the editorial team.
Applicants for the Editorial team should set out their expertise and experience in relation to the role, and indicate their views about how the journal could develop during the course of their tenure. It is expected that the successful candidates will be well-respected members of the mathematics education community and demonstrate most of the following:
• a significant portfolio of publications in high quality journals in the field,
• a strong record of reviewing for such journals,
• editorial experience (which may include guest editing, edited books, etc.)
• an ability to comment knowledgably on a wide range of research methods
Applications from teams should demonstrate how they include complementary expertise and represent diversity; they may propose ways of working as a team. Team members can also indicate if they wish to be considered as individuals, should the team not be appointed.
Editors are expected to commit adequate time to the role, estimated to be 3 or 4 days per month depending on the time of year, to include regular editorial team meetings and support for BSRLM conferences.

Applications should be in the form of a covering letter (up to 1000 words) and brief CV (up to 3 pages, with publications in refereed journals listed separately) and sent to Jeremy Hodgen, Chair of BSRLM ([email protected]) with a copy to Rachel Marks, Publications Officer ([email protected]), by 15th March 2021.
The appointment will be made by the Executive Committee of BSRLM, on behalf of the Society. The BSRLM Executive reserves the right to approach individuals by invitation after the closing date for proposals. Applicants should be informed of the outcome of their application by 15th April 2021.

Research in Mathematics Education is an international journal publishing on mathematics education, addressing issues across educational systems.
