Call for Associate Editors

Nordic Journal of Music Therapy

Deadline
30 June 2020

About the role

The Nordic Journal of Music Therapy (NJMT) invites applicants for a position as Associate Editor (AE). The journal is looking to add two AEs to their team. The new AEs will join a dynamic, international team of editors and our international publisher to coordinate peer review of manuscripts and to contribute to the development of the journal, in close collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief. This includes initial evaluation of new submissions, selecting and inviting external peer reviewers, managing the review process, and working with the Editor-in-Chief on review decisions. NJMT editors meet 3-4 times a year to discuss manuscripts submitted for review, either through video conferencing or in person at international music therapy conferences. We expect AEs to agree with the journal's mission (published on our website) and to uphold a professional commitment to social justice issues.

Required qualifications:

  • Expertise in research methodology;
  • A track record of music therapy publications in a variety of peer-reviewed journals;
  • Significant experience as a peer reviewer, preferably for a variety of journals across disciplines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Methodological expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods;
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: survey research, improvisational music therapy, GIM, mental health, autism, or school-aged populations.
  • Experience as a journal editor.

The work of AEs for NJMT is voluntary. We offer a 4-year term, which can be renewed once. Time commitment is flexible, but the AE needs to be willing and able to reserve enough time to work with manuscripts to ensure a smooth, timely, and high-quality peer review process. Working as an AE of NJMT is a rewarding learning experience, on a team where collaborative spirit and mutual learning are valued and emphasised. NJMT publishes five issues a year, both in print and online.

If you are interested in becoming an AE for NJMT, please e-mail your CV and a 1-page statement of interest explaining your qualifications and motivation for this position to NJMT Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Joke Bradt (jbradt@drexel.edu), before June 30 2020.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Joke Bradt, for the team of Editors

Nordic Journal of Music Therapy (NJMT) is published in collaboration with GAMUT - The Grieg Academy Music Therapy Research Centre (NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and University of Bergen), in co-operation with university programs and organizations of music therapy in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

The Nordic Journal of Music Therapy serves the international community of music therapy by being an avenue for publication of scholarly articles, texts on practice, theory and research, dialogues and discussions, reviews and critique. Publication of the journal is based on the collaboration between the music therapy communities in the five Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and the three Baltic Countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This international but still regional foundation offers a platform for development of communication with the broader international community of music therapy. Scholars from all over the world are welcomed to write in the journal.
