Call for Editor-in-Chief

RNA Biology

31 December 2021

About the Role

RNA Biology is an international peer-reviewed journal for cutting-edge RNA research. The journal publishes research relating to RNA biochemistry and structural biology, transcription and translation, regulatory RNAs in eukaryotes and prokaryotes, sequencing and bioinformatics, RNA localization, RNA in disease and therapy and other topics. The journal is undergoing an exciting period of change and has converted to open access from 2022 onwards.

We are looking for an Editor-in-Chief with an academic background in RNA biology, as well as the passion to drive the journal forward. It is a significant role, with high profile, but one that is achievable within a continuing busy working academic timetable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and decision-making on submissions. He, or she, will work closely with the journal’s Associate Editors and will have the authority to accept articles following successful peer review, ensuring that Reviewers and Authors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics. There will be an agreed handover period with the out-going Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Renée Schroeder, to ensure seamless transition.

Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover any journal-related expenses. Taylor & Francis will also organise regular Board meetings, and will supply annual reports reflecting on the performance of the Journal. The Journal utilises an online editorial office system to facilitate the submission and peer-review process for Authors, Reviewers and Editors.

Becoming the Editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience where you will build your own networks, promote the research that you are passionate about, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

Submitting your Application:

If you would like to apply for the position of Editor-In-Chief please send your CV, a cover letter and a vision statement to the Taylor & Francis Portfolio Manager, Jennifer Stokes ([email protected]).

Your vision statement should be no longer than two pages and might cover:

• What opportunities the transition to an Open Access model brings the journal
• How you would work in partnership with the Associate Editors and Editorial Board
• How you would maintain and increase the quality of submissions
• How you would work with authors
• How you would ensure the journal would uphold an ethical framework
