Call for Editor

Innovation: Organization & Management

Deadline
9 July 2021

About the Journal

Innovation: Organization & Management seeks to publish outstanding research on innovation within and across organizations, and it is one of the premier journals in the field of innovation. (More information on the journal’s performance can be found here.) The journal addresses scholars in management, strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, organizational theory and organizational behaviour, and welcomes manuscripts grounded in diverse disciplinary, theoretical and methodological traditions.

About the Role:

Innovation: Organization & Management is seeking a new Editor to succeed Markus Perkmann and Nelson Phillips, who have edited the journal since 2016. Candidates should have a strong academic background and publishing experience as well as the enthusiasm and vision to drive the journal forward. The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial oversight and decision-making on submissions to the journal, and will have the authority to accept articles following successful peer-review. You will uphold the highest standards of scholarship for the journal and will ensure that reviewers and authors adhere to the Journal’s Code of Publishing Ethics. We are looking for the following attributes in a candidate:

• Significant scholarly contributions in any area of management studies, preferably with a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship or organization theory. Applicants should be able to handle manuscripts across a wide range of topics and domains;

• Active in the scholarly community with extensive international professional networks;

• Experience as an associate/handling editor, special issue editor, or reviewer for management journals;

• Strong organizational and managerial skills, to ensure that submissions are handled in a timely manner;

• Confident in engaging with authors and researchers to solicit the highest quality submissions and to act as an advocate and representative for the Journal in the scholarly community;

• The ability to foster positive working relationships with authors, reviewers, editorial team members, and the in-house publishing team at Taylor & Francis.

Taylor & Francis will support you in all aspects of the role. We provide training and support on all editorial processes and systems, including the journal’s online editorial office system, ScholarOne, which is used to manage the peer-review process. We will provide you with regular journal performance data to inform your decision-making and offer guidance on strategic journal development, publishing ethics, and developments within the publishing landscape. Taylor & Francis will provide remuneration for the role to cover any journal-related expenses. The successful candidate will assume the role of Editor from 1 January 2022 but will begin training and transition planning from September 2021.

Application Procedure:

If you wish to apply for the position of Editor, please forward your CV and a vision statement to Vicki Whittaker, Head of Business Journals at Taylor & Francis, at [email protected] Informal enquiries may also be directed to Vicki. Your vision statement should be no longer than two pages and should cover:

• Where you believe the field is headed and IOM’s place in it;

• What the challenges and opportunities for IOM are;

• How you would attract high-quality authors and research;

• How you would ensure an optimal author experience;

• How you would promote the journal to the wider scholarly community.

The closing date for applications is 9 July 2021 and we aim to hold all interviews by the end of July 2021. Please indicate your availability for interview when you submit your application.
